Hackers Leak Apple Suppliers’ Data Exposing iPhone 18 Pro Details

A major cybersecurity breach has exposed more than 630 gigabytes of confidential data stolen from Tata Electronics, one of Apple’s key manufacturing partners in India. The leaked files reportedly include sensitive information about the iPhone 18 Pro, Apple’s supply chain, component suppliers, and internal manufacturing documents.

According to reports, the ransomware group World Leaks claimed responsibility for the attack, publishing more than 200,000 files on its dark web leak site on June 12. Tata Electronics has confirmed the cybersecurity incident, while Apple says it is investigating the breach and assessing its impact.

The leaked documents reportedly contain detailed information about the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro, including its circuit board, battery components, camera modules, and the suppliers responsible for manufacturing individual parts.

The files also reveal which companies are competing for Apple supply contracts, offering an unusual look into the technology giant’s highly secretive global manufacturing network.

Technology analyst Paolo Pescatore, founder of PP Foresight, said the leak goes far beyond product images.

“The bigger issue is the exposure of sensitive supplier and component information that Apple would never willingly make public. It gives competitors, counterfeiters, suppliers, and cybercriminals a rare insight into how Apple’s supply chain operates,” he said.

Tata Electronics said it has restricted internal system access and launched a forensic investigation into the breach.

Cybersecurity experts believe attacks of this scale typically involve compromised employee credentials, weak internal security controls, or hackers gaining long-term access to internal systems before stealing data.

Experts noted that the breach highlights how a company’s cybersecurity is only as strong as the security of its suppliers and business partners.

World Leaks is a ransomware group known for using a “hack-and-leak” strategy, where victims are pressured to pay ransom or risk having stolen information released publicly.

The group has previously claimed responsibility for major attacks on companies including Dell, where it allegedly stole 1.3 terabytes of data, and Nike, where it claimed to have taken 1.4 terabytes of corporate information.

At present, there is no evidence that customer information, payment details, or Apple user accounts were compromised during the attack.

The leaked material appears to consist primarily of confidential corporate documents related to manufacturing and supplier operations.

The incident is expected to damage the reputation of both Apple and Tata Electronics, particularly as Apple continues expanding iPhone production in India to reduce its dependence on manufacturing in China.

India assembled approximately 55 million iPhones in 2025, accounting for roughly one-quarter of global iPhone production, a significant increase from just a few years earlier.

Security experts say the breach is unlikely to derail Apple’s long-term investment in India but will likely lead to stronger cybersecurity requirements for suppliers handling sensitive product information.

The attack also highlights growing cybersecurity risks facing manufacturing companies, with experts warning that ransomware groups are increasingly targeting industrial firms as they become more digitally connected.

Both Apple and Tata Electronics are continuing investigations into the breach, while cybersecurity specialists work to determine the full extent of the stolen data and any potential long-term consequences.
